Board members/Officers present:

The meeting was called to order at 18:15 CDT by President KC9NW. 


The meeting began with a slide show of engineering photographs taken of the generator towers at the Prehn Cranberry Marsh in Tomah.


Secretary’s Report: K9DB

  • Minutes of the last meeting of 16 September 2012 had been distributed to board members via email. They were displayed via projector and accepted as displayed with one correction.


Treasurer’s Report: N9ATQ

  • N9ATQ was not present.  


Rib Mountain Systems:

146.22/.82 Repeater:

  • KC9NW reported that 82 had been keyed up continuously the morning of Sunday October 21st. K9PT and KB9RFB resolved the issue remotely. They will investigate further as to the cause.

  • There is a report of a problem with packet loss on IRLP. KC9NW will investigate with K9PT and KB9RFB.
  • No other outstanding technical issues or changes.


449.3/444.3 Repeater:

  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.



  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.


New Controller:

  • No outstanding technical issues


Brighton Repeater:

  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.


Coloma Repeater

  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.


Old Business:


Repeater Linking – Rib Mountain/Brighton/Coloma/Tomah/Irma

  • KC9NW said he would like to see a plan for 2013 that would outline a timetable for the repeater linking project.


Black River Amateur Radio Association Swapfest at Colby

  • K9DB reported that he had set up a booth at the BRARA Swapfest which had been relocated from Colby to Abbotsford. The displays were concerned with the linking project among the three RMRA repeater sites, including the composite coverage maps generated by Christian Reynolds in Green Bay. He said there was a lot of interest shown by the attendees in this system.
  • He said he met with the BRARA leadership, and they are willing to renew the duplexer loan agreement modified to be open-ended. This will avoid the chore of annual renewal. K9DB will have a re-worded version ready for the November meeting
  • The BRARA leadership also inquired about getting the 147.15 system at Medford linked into the RMRA system.
  • K9DB also met with the new Taylor County Emergency Coordinator. He stated that he may have a lead on a 440 MHz repeater and duplexer for deployment at Brighton.



  • K9DB reported that he would like to send out a special edition of Telemetry in advance of the Annual General Membership Meeting.
  • The next regular edition is scheduled for December 1st.


RMRA Web Site:     

  • No new developments.


New Business:


Annual General Membership Meeting:

  • The annual meeting will be Saturday November 3rd at the Marathon County Public Library.

  • KC9LFG suggested K9PT present a program his newly acquired and built software designed radio.
